...famously said: 'Gott ist tot'. Will we become as Gods?

God is dead. God remains dead. And we have killed him. Yet his shadow still looms. How shall we comfort ourselves, the murderers of all murderers? What was holiest and mightiest of all that the world has yet owned has bled to death under our knives: who will wipe this blood off us? What water is there for us to clean ourselves? What festivals of atonement, what sacred games shall we have to invent? Is not the greatness of this deed too great for us? Must we ourselves not become gods simply to appear worthy of it?

The fat owl of the remove.. The two stories even had owls in common. :-)
The Worst Witch! Although she was a girl. I wouldn't expect every thought to be original, but i kind of expect people to believe what they say, themselves!

The tragedy here in R&S is that Goodlife does believe all that he says. As do the Goodly unGodly.
Poor Goodlife. How awful to be so afraid.
don't worry about the goodly ungodly (sandy), it's just a solipsism

at least, I think it is
Question Author
I knew a Solly Lipsitz once. I have to admit that the subtleties of solipsisms are beyond me.

applause sandy ;x)

though that sidebar tops the Daily Wail by a country mile
Question Author
I never looked at the sidebar until now. "Man injured after toilet explodes in his face..." Might have been worse, I suppose. He could have been sitting on it. ;-)
Question Author
the toilet, not his face
Lol:-)

I think he would treat the furnishings of that palace as he did the tables of the money changers in the temple. They'd be upturned and threw out of those fine windows. He'd then give the bishop a kick up the @rse, and defenestrate him too.
Question Author
Thrown rather than threw, there.^
Sandy, I think 'threw' works better than 'thrown' it sounds faintly mediaeval and hence gains verisimilitude as it implies long usage :o)
Defenestration is always more effective in a palace, bungalows don't quite cut the mustard in this context.
Question Author
And although we shouldn't judge, it looks as though he's transgressed 4 of the 7 Deadly Sins with his profligate ways. Pride, Gluttony, and Greed, are obvious. And what else but Envy, of the buildings in the Vatican, perhaps, could prompt such lavish building?
The other 3, for those who don't know them, are Lust, Sloth, and Wrath
whaddya mean for those who don't know them?? as if!!
Question Author
Present company excepted, of course. But there are some now whose religious education is sadly lacking.
