A letter this morning from my bank about my credit card. It asked me to check recent items on my account. When I went to the bank's site there was no sign of the card account.
There are contact phone numbers on the letter. Would it be safe to use them to phone the bank?

they do sandy and mobile top ups are a popular one. I had fun with my Egg card a few years ago. Apparently they make multiple attempts by generating random numbers till the mobile phone top up system accepts one. Then they know they've got a real number and they will then start stripping the card until they are stopped.
My bank phoned me last month because there had been a payment made on my credit card of £891 and as I hadn't used it for a very long time they were checking. I hadn't made the payment so it was stopped. I was abroad at the time so the bank asked me to call back when I had the card infront of me for security questions. I did so and there had been almost £2000 of payments all of which they stopped.
There is now a fraud investigation. I'm so lucky I'm not out of pocket.
I have no idea how this could have happened either.
yorkylass, its the old randomly generated number as I posted.
