With all this excitement over the Royal baby, I thought a good idea for a poll would be:

What form of government would you prefer in the UK:-

a) Constitutional Monarchy

b) Republic

My answer pertains to andrew OP, not his subsequent post amending the suggested poll questions :) Me no likey the elected Monarch idea. Perhaps though a Monarchical dynasty selected every 5 generations or so by means of a National Lottery? :)

c) anarchy in the UK
I don't think that either of those are actually "forms of government"? We are not actually "governed" by the Queen and republics can, in fact, be dictatorships.
We have a Green Party MP, so we don't care how the country is run, so long as we can hug trees.

Andrew, if you really want to know, why not actually include some proper options in the OP?

Okay, perhaps a better way of phrasing the question would be:

Who would you prefer as Head of State for the UK:

a) a hereditary monarch

b) an elected monarch

c) a president

A
Maybe this would be a better option. Although I heard that there was a recent assassination attempt (canine assassin) and Mayor Stubbs may be forced to retire.

b! B!!!!! B!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But I suspect I would be in the minority :)
d) Beneficent dictatorship.

Susan,
Are you suggesting a Hereditary Cat-ocracy or an elected one?

You have to be specific or they'll have you (see above).

A

@LazyG
Is that B) Elected Monarchy. I would have no problem with that but TBH I can't see the difference between this and c) President. Perhaps a few more uniforms, palaces and crown jewels.
@ Andrew Noooo!! B!!!!! refers to your OP - a republic ;)

As I say, I suspect I am in the minority, although I am increasingly enamoured of my own notion to have a lottery for the monarchy every 5 generations or so :)
@@Andrew Hereditary Cat-ocracy or an elected one

Stubbs has no gonads so that means that the next mayor has to be elected. Maybe another ginger mayor!
Afternoon. A good subject - but I am unsure of the answers.

Any more options, or different ways of phrasing the question?

@LazyGun
OP b) .....then I am with you.
I can give you the answer to your poll, 95% a) 4% b) 1% eh! >
