I am thinking of joining the gym and want to know if my times will be ok to exercise. I don't get home from work till 6.20pm so is it ok to go after I've had dinner (mum does dinner for when I get home). Any advice would be great!!

just make sure you leave at least an hour for your tea to settle before you go,or cant you go straight from work then have tea abit later

loobie - I really wouldn't recommend exercising on a full stomach. You should leave it an hour and preferably two, otherwise any vigorous exercise could make you feel quite unwell, and even cause vomiting. Also, it will make your exercise process feel quite uncomfortable doing activity on a full stomach.. A banana eaten on the way to the gym from work is a good food to eat to keep the worst of your hunger pangs away.

I realise this won't fit it with your Mum's cooking schedule and she probably won't want to still be doing "Dinner Lady" duty around 8 p.m. when you return, so it looks as if you may have to start preparing your own , unless you're particularly nice to her ! The other alternative is to check whether you can have an early morning gym session before going to work.

I never swim or do Yoga on a full stomach.

i think it would be better to go on your way home from work, and then re-heat your dinner (if possible) later on.

I suggest, you go to the gym right after work and have your dinner after that.

It's awful being in the gym after having eaten, I know from experience...
