No I don't mean how big are stationary cupboards these days? :0)

But did the parents of this girl act appropriately, should this teacher still be teaching, and why after the girl was quite prepared to conduct a sexual relationship with her teacher, then chose to report her to the police only when she had started up another relationship?

Actually, I do remember when I was in my later teens (16 or 17) that when I went out with my mates drinking, I would only ever consume vodka-based drinks thinking that it was the only spirit you couldn't smell on the breath and therefore I could fool my mum.

Years later my mum told me she could always tell when I'd been drinking vodkas - not because of any smell, but because of my inability to walk up the stairs without bouncing off the walls.

Lol....I didn't drink. I had a few bailey's on my 18th and a few vodka's on my 21st. Wild eh?

I lived with my grand parents and they said I could do more or less what I wanted if I followed the rules. Homework had to be completed, no drinking (and we lived in a pub!!) no drugs and to always let them know where I was. So that's exactly how I lived my teenage years :-)

I always worked hard and didn't argue with my parents. It was supposed to be the way to get a good education, find work and live a comfortable life. And so it was. Ah, the good old days when virtue was rewarded.

Not gonna lie, ymb, that post made me laugh!

AOG, I have had the chance to work in a High school recently. Pupils may not view teachers with a reverent awe anymore, but ultimately the balance of power remains with the teacher. It just takes a little longer to get this established, or the teacher takes a bit longer to put their foot down. But when it does get put down, the pupils usually listen. As surveys indicate there are ever more frequent exceptions, but the majority of pupils still respect, or listen to, or obey, their teachers.

There should be no difference between the sentences handed to this woman and Jeremy Forrest, for committing the same abuse of teacher/pupil relationship.

However, it is interesting to note that there were precious few remarks about Forrest's physical appearance when it hit the headlines........

jack, I think Forrest's sentence reflected the extra element of abducting/luring the girl abroad, which presumably won't apply here.

"Stationary" cupboards AOG? You mean the ones not moving? Or do you mean "Stationery" - for holding paper etc.

stationery and stationary were once the same word. Writing paper and so on was usually sold from fixed shops and stalls rather than pedlars who travelled from fair to fair.

Was always taught "e" for envelopes as a way to remember the difference and I was taught in the 50s.
