How To Tell Mum Im Pregnant!
8 Answers
I'm twenty years old and have been with my partner for over two years now and roughly two weeks ago i found out i was pregnant and i'm dreading telling my mum as i know how disappointed she is going to be (she had my elder brother at sixteen and has always drilled it into us not to make the same mistake of having children too young- i just want to say she's never called my brother a mistake just the time at which she had him) also my mother suffers from bipolar and lives in a neighbouring county to me and i don't want to go down to tell her and end up being stuck there while she's going crazy at me as the whole thing is stressing me out enough as it is. Is it cowardly of me to tell her over the phone or by letter so she has time to calm down before she actually sees me. I never planned this pregnancy and i never planned to disappoint my mum in this way but i have always been against abortion and my partner is fully supportive of me keeping the baby and starting a family together, i just wish i could say the same about my mum! Any advice on how to break the news to her in a way that she won't hit the roof!

I would tell her outright but be excited about your happy news instead of worrying about her reaction. If she can see you're happy she might reactive positively.

Well you are not sixteen. so that is a plus. You have your partner standing by you another plus so just tell her. What ever she says she will come round it's only a baby after all. You haven't committed murder or done something willfully hurtful or damaging to anyone. She will love the baby as much as you. The sooner you tell her the better. Don't tell her over the phone she can shout and yell she can't actually kill you. You just suck it up and say that you love her and will need her support and I'm sure you will get it.
