From about 5 o'clock until 10 they never stopped. The dog was in a panic, eyes rolling and panting all evening.

Not just in England, sandy - Scotland and Wales too..... but no, we don't have fireworks at Hallowe'en, not here anyway, it's not traditional. I'm expecting the fireworks to be set off tomorrow night and over the weekend, as well as some of next week too.
eyes rolling and panting all evening, sounds like a night in with the wife mun..
No fireworks for Halloween here, never heard of it.
Even firework night is a lot quitter now we hardly hear a bang. Fireworks are just too expensive so most people go to organised displays.
I always feel so sorry for the animals the fireworks just terrify them
GF night is, like much else, a money-making opportunity for the retail sector...nothing more.
In my younger days, I loved fireworks.
But now the only bangers, I like come with mash, beans and brown sauce!
It should be just the one night when we commemorate the attempt to get rid of the politicians and royalty, but some folk, who seem incapable of recognising a '5', ensure it goes on for days. I blame the idiots who moved their large public displays to a nearby Fri/Sat/Sun and had no understanding of tradition or why they were putting on a display in the first place. Just wanted to cynically maximise profit I suspect.
Sandy isn't asking if we have fireworks on Halloween!
To answer your question Sandy, yes it is. Usually lasting till midnght. As others have said not just the 5th Nov, a few days either side of it!
Yes, Sandy, we have had fireworks going off around here since Wednesday Oct 30th, and we can expect them to continue long past November 5th, if this year is the same as previous years - how I wish that the only fireworks going off were at properly organised displays; they seem incredibly expensive to have at home, not to mention that my dog is a quivering jelly as soon as it starts to get dark at night now, and letting her out for her calls of nature is almost impossible - I'm having to feed her mid-afternoon so she has a chance to go out before it gets dark. It's very difficult not to make a fuss of her (you should apparently just ignore the state the dog gets into, otherwise it makes it worse, advised by those who know, ) when she is obviously scared of the noise, and she hates thunderstorms too, poor sensitive little flower that she is!
