Should someone who doesn’t understand that the poppy, rather than advocating war, is a symbol of respect for the war dead, be conducting a service of remembrance?

@naomi

She is welcome to wear her white poppy for 364 days of the year but, for Remembrance Day, she should wear the red one. Or, as per the behaviour of other clerics, none at all. If she isn't agreeable to this, she shouldn't conduct the service.

I'm tempted to agree with Gladian in thinking that this is shameless publicity-seeking but we don't know the whole story. It could have all gone unnoticed but for people taking umbrage, getting the newspapers involved and thus out of her control.

jake,don't flatter yourself, Ii was talking about the subject person of the OP, not you.
Jake,I've just reread my post, I'm struggling to see how you could possibly have thought I was directing my comments at you. In Fact I made that comment before I read the others. I often do that so I can get an uncontaminated comment out. For what it's worth I do respect your general view and those who we remember by wearing the poppy would also.
