I slept in one once and thought it was great, however, I'd still like some other personal experiences...

They can be as firm as you want or as soft as you want.
They come with a very special lining and you can choose whether you want 'Free Flow' which means they don't stop moving or '5'second so when you get on the bed it takes 5 seconds to stop moving etc
They come with hard sides or soft sides and queen size or bigger!!!
I had the queensize and the water content made the bed weigh approx 3/4 of a ton, which, when as evenly spread as the water is, it is the equivalent of 12 people standing in one room.
The base of the beds are like a special grid to support the weight.
The water must be treated once a year with a special water softener (very small bottle) and you clean the matress with a cleaner almost like a disinfectant.
Water beds do not have the capability of having any bed bugs on the matress and any skin we humans shed stays on the surface of the matress, hence the cleaner.
So getting rid of bed bugs and the like is only down to washing bedding.......
