Dual TV problem

I did the stupid press every button and see what it does last night and now I think I've done something wrong :-/

In the top left hand corner of the screen is 'Key ---' and whenever I press a number button on the remote the dashes turn into '///' No other keys on the remote have an effect, neither does turning the TV off at teh plug or turning on the DVD player which usually kicks in whatever channel it is on. And no, I have no idea what button i pressed to mess it up.

Please help! I can't miss neighbours!

the make is 'Dual' and I don't know about the model, I would imagine that most Dual TVs would have a similar function though. It's a flat screen but not like a wall mounted one if you get me. I've sorted out how to get rid of it but now it does it evey time i turn the TV on, it's rather annoying.
