Lol. Thanks for that, something to make me laugh on a long boring night shift!
I was told it is a tradition, and that they're walking against time to stop the clock. (I was told this by a prison officer.) Surely they'd want to hurry time along so should be running clockwise?!
foulecamp, do you mean that it's not always anti-clockwise? I go to prison a lot (for work!) and I've never seen them walk the other way! The cons don't seem to know why though!
having given the question some thought now,it makes sense that if you,re right handed, which the majority of us are (which would make you right footed ,in most instances,)then it would only be natural to walk in an anti-clockwise direction as you have more control over balance.all sporting track events i.e. running cycling ect.take place in an anti-clockwise direction.makes perfect sense to me.how bout you?
I don't know but at the health club I attend they have people swimming anti-clockwise, which I don't like. As children on the roundabouts in the local park it was always said that anti-clockwise was "the sick way", so we pushed it clockwise. Of course there was always some bad lad who, to be awkward, would push it anti-clockwise.
