Legal age for tattoo's?

Is the legal age for a tattoo 18 or 16 please and is there anywhere one can read what the law says about this? Thanks in advance for any help.

I have a tattoo which I have never regretted having even though I'm now a pensioner. It's very personal to me and unless I'm wearing a swimsuit is invisible to anyone else. I tend to go on cruise holidays and must admit to being surprised by the number of elderly, obviously moneyed ladies, who have tattoos.

Certainly is a fashion accessory then craft, will be even more "old ladies" with them in years to come then.

isnt this covered by the tattooing of minors act 1968 ?


I remember it being debated.....an example I recall of a law enacted to protect public health - there was an epidemic of Hep B in under sixteens who had had tatoos

I have a tattoo and I'm certainly not a sheep. Had my first one done for very personal reasons last summer at the grand old age of 45 =)
My second is planned for this summer, again for personal reasons relating to my first
