I have been asked to choose a camcorder from a catalogue as a gift for myself, price range £300-£400. As I am a complete novice I would be most grateful if someone could translate the specs on one of them for me (given below) and tell me if it’s suitable for general use, ie. Holidays.

Sounds good for general use.

Make sure you get a fast enough SD card for recording on - class 10 is fine. Go for 16GB or 32GB - Sandisk or Samsung will cost about £15 and £25 from Amazon or MyMemory. I always go for one of the big names - it's a one-off purchase and you can only lose your pictures once if your card fails.
