How do i break a mobile phone contract?

I am moving to Ireland in August and will be 8 months into an 18 month contract with Vodafone. I have checked the Irish Vodafone website for price plans (as I was going to see if Vodafone would transfer my contract to Irish Vodafone for the remainder) but the plans all seem very expensive. Is there any way I can terminate my contract? I signed the contract in a Phones4u outlet. Any help appreciated. Thanks.
