Does anyone know whether the bin men will take extra bins away?

I had two normal rubbish wheelie bins (house next door was empty for months- so i nicked theirs). Now after putting them on the end of our street to be emptied, ive only the bloody one! Do they, in their infinite wisdom calculate how many houses there are and how many bins and take one away if it appears to be an 'extra' one?

I've scoured up and down our street and the sodding thing has definitely gone. The annoying thing is I know I wasn't entitled to 2 bins so can't ring em to ask/complain.

Yeah it is ummmm, recycling ones free- £26 for a replacement and £10.00 to fix it if its broken.

Ooooo no, its not been burnt, well no evidence of it anyway. Not sure if that's worse, seeing the sad remains of your bin or wondering where the F it's bogged off to!

I wonder if cash-strapped councils have considered pinching bins themselves and then selling them back to householders?

Not that I'm saying your council have done this, B00.

Ya think our binmen would know better than to try that one out on us, we are Northerners after all, we pay for nowt if we can help it!

Maybe the bin men are pinching them and selling them to less "financially aware" areas, B00?

if it vanished straight after the collection, call them up and point out that you left it in their care and they've lost it.

am dreading having to have the bin replaced - the new ones are only 75% the size of the old ones.

Not sure i can do that Jno, as ive already said we're not really entitled to 2 bins anyway, i only had a 2nd as i stole it in the first place, and if by some slim chance they say they'll bring me another (for free) i've nowhere to hide the one ive got whilst they drop it off.

ah, that's tricky. Won't it fit under the bed? We can wheel ours through the house (some tight corners) and out the back.

The bin men here will only empty one bin per household, unless you qualify for an extra free bin or have paid for an extra one. They won't even pick up a bin bag that didn't fit in or if it's too full and lid won't shut they won't empty it either, unless it Christmas.
I liked the good old days when they would take anything, no extra charge or notice needed.

we have to pay if either of our bins are nicked
