Wedding/engagement Rings
27 Answers
Inspired by SandyRoe's thread about a lost engagement ring it got me wondering about the habits of others.
I wear my rings pretty much all the time, although not everyone does and I am curious why some don't wear theirs?
I know a lady who chooses to wear rings she has inherited from family members in favour of her engagement ring. I find this somewhat odd and am interested in what others think about this?

I took my engagement, wedding and eternity rings off and my finger felt a bit 'naked'! I was out shopping (not for a ring) a few days later and spotted a beautiful, inexpensive silver ring with three hearts on it. I now wear it on my 'wedding' finger and as it represents my two daughters and me, it is more precious than my sparklers. My girls will inherit those...
The thought of replacing a wedding ring is quite emotive. Mine isn't a plain band and when having some work done the jeweller suggested getting some edges back........I looked at him in horror as the 'wear' represented my marriage and to refine it would have been like wiping out my x years of marriage!
That is a lovely thing to do Boingo and a nice way to move on.

For the years that my marriage was a happy one (before he became emotionally and mentally abusive to me and our, then young, children) I loved my rings and what they represented. It must be heart-breaking to lose, or have stolen, something so special. My three-heart ring is a one off and I would be more upset if I lost that one than my wedding ring. It just goes to show how much sentiment and emotion you can associate with a ring, depending on where your heart is.
