Is anyone else fed up with the Post Office wanting to know what is in the parcel that I am posting? Supposedly it is for security. As if I would tell them if it were dangerous materials.

I just make something up!
no point in being fed up - they have to do it
seeing as they are handling the goods, people send the most amazing stuff through the post, some highly dangerous, some like foodstuffs can be illegal if sent from abroad to here or visa versa, it's good to know they have everyone's welfare at heart, don't you think. Much gets through the system, which should be very worrying...
I never get fed up being asked all these sorts of questions, why should I?

I am all for security in our country!
I suppose because it is unlikely to produce results. (Except where the thing being posted is by someone who doesn't understand it is dangerous.) If you were deliberately posting anthax, for example, then you aren't likely to admit to it.
people do send the most absurd stuff and it's not declared, it's up to the employees to determine if it looks suss and needs to be opened. I have had stuff sent from abroad and it's been opened then finally forwarded, even though it had a declaration of what was inside the box. It was a gift but the mail service thought they had better check. There was a label attached which said this parcel has been opened and checked by the mail service.
I do and I know a few of my friends are aswell.

One got so fed up being asked she snapped and said it was Cocaine and they still sent it anyway!

I deliver avon parcels mainly lingerie and Jammie's and a book - what's the deal every time I go in it's the same thing I get asked and the same answer. As much as I'm for security in my country there is a line between ok and ridiculous
When you've been caught sending an intercepted parcel bomb to David Cameron, say, you can't turn around in court and say " I know nothing,"
but your dabs will be on said parcel, of course if you don't have a criminal record not sure how they would trace you, but DNA and all sorts of forensic evidence comes into play now, so unlikely you would get away with sending Cameron anything suss. his team would be opening the mail at any rate, so unlikely anything gets through without being thoroughly vetted
I cannot believe how many people are complaining about giving a minor piece of information over.

I feel sorry for the post office staff if they have to put up with this day in and day out!
Just start making stuff up,next time say (loudly) it's a sex toy, gimp mask, ball gag etc. :)

Here they want to know if it's a present and how old I am, also had to show my passport, all for a parcel from Ibiza to Barcelona!
I have never been asked. Probably cos it's usually returns on home shopping! If I had the pleasure I think I would make it up, something like a giraffe or a polar bear. Give them something to talk about in the canteen.
This has been discussed before, its because quite a lot of mail is moved by plane now and aviation law insists on it as certain things cannot be carried by air. Its not actually about security in terms of terrorists but about safety.
The Post Office staff have to ask.
