I tried this in Chatterbank a few hours ago with no success so I'll give it a go here now:
Does anybody have an absolute answer to the question: When I mark an email as a phishing scam on Hotmail does it get referred to Microsoft for action or just deleted like all the other dross?
Thanks for your time.
Don't know about your case, but if I forward them to Barclays or Nat-West or whoever, they just bounce, even when sending to what appears to be their genuine address.
They never come back Graham. Mrs 9401 gets a load of rubbish from 'inland revenue' and forwards it to their fraud address with no problem.
It's not worrying me from a security point of view, more just curious.
You may be right seadogg but I find it straightforward and easy to use. I've been there for years.
I use Hotmail and I think it does get reported. I get very little 'spam' Hotmail filters send it all straight to 'Junk' where it gets auto deleted after 5 days.
Mine never come back to me - I have a list of phishing addresses as I get them a lot - and several banks and PayPal always respond (even if it's only with an auto-reply saying thanks). I don't think email providers actually do anything. My junk box has several in it every day, if one's in my inbox and I mark it spam, it just moves to the junk box so I can delete it.
