Not abnormal, they probably have a lot of cutlery and plates and are being enviromentaly friendly and not wasting water
I'd keep well away. You never know what kind of bugs you might pick up !! Don't think I'd like to eat in his house!

i don't think its abnormal - if you have lots of plates etc why keep washing up? as someone said its a waste of water and life is too short to worry about dishes.

if the plate are mouldy then its probably not good but a bit of dried pasta sauce or something is fine because its dry.

i live alone and have to let them pile up a bit in order to fill the dishwasher - a real waste otherwise.

i had an old cheese grater, given to me when i was a student. It was a good one but very rusty. Anyway, I dropped it behind a cupboard full of cheese, and there it stayed for months. I could see it but couldn't get at it. I could see that after a few weeks it was covered in green fur and it actually used to scare me!

Eventually, when | moved the big cupboard was pulled out and for some reason, I decided not to throw the grater away. Amazingly, after one wash it was as shiny as a brand new one! It's still going strong and had never lost it's shine.

Don't really know what my point is though..........

the grater was full of cheese, not the cupboard!
