Watching the new (and brilliant) BBC wildlife series, I got into a debate with my flatmate about the polar bears. The godly David Attenborough asserted that half of all polar bear cubs die within the first year, but we have absolutely no idea what kind of figure this would be. How many polar bears are born every year, and therefore how many cubs? It's slightly morbid I suppose, but we were fascinated nonetheless.
Hi Supernick, we watched it also, it really is a facinating programme, a 'must watch' thing, although on the subject of Polar Bears, I was a bit disappointed that they never showed them actually hunting the Seals in their under ice homes, the way they rear up and use their strength to brak through the ice, its a sight. Hope you enjoy the rest of them.
