microwave

I have a microwave that is about 5/6 yrs old.It is rusty round the seams inside. Is it safe or is it time for a new one?

If there is rust around the seams I wouldn't risk continuing to use it. The rust may have been caused by the condensation/steam generated when cooking which has lingered on. To try and avoid this it's advisable to leave the microwave door open after use for a while to allow the moisture to evaporate, or wipe the inside down. We've had our Sharp microwave for about 20 years now and it's still in good condition so if you adopt this practice your new microwave should hopefully last much longer.

Go to a supermarket and get a stainless steel one this time. They're cheap and won't rust :OOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Asda and Tesco are as bad as each other. Watch all your favourite brands be replaced by the supermarkets' own inferior versions. It's a bloomin' disgrace, I tells ya!

isn't it amazing how you soon veer off the subject the more answers are posted.nita you can buy a new microwave at any electrical outlet for as little as 30 quid.go on treat yerself.

In the past Ive just put my mobile phone inside the microwave and tried ringing it. As the microwave oven is microwave "tight" then the phone should not ring.

If its the electrics your worried about, you could always run an extension cable down to the bottom of your garden. Turn the microwave on, and take cover!

Talking of Mobile phones in microwaves ... It is possible to cook with two mobile phones . phone the other one , answer it , place them about six inches apart on a suitable surface ie a table , put an uncooked egg between them and a few minutes later hey presto you have one cooked egg ... no wonder they can fry your brain ............

Bcause my doubting may be wrong, as a pensioner I don`t want to spend money if I don`t have to!!
