It seems to me that the only losers here are the two children, simply because this woman wasn't just happy with her lesbian relationship, she also wanted children as well.

THEM. Ta, I got bored halfway through the news article, having naively assumed there was some sort of chronological order to the events described. I'm amazed that a women would stick alleged 'sperm' where it matters without some sort of guarentee of provenance.

I certainly wouldn't choose him! I believe his side of the story, but i think he was incredibly naive to think that he would be "protected" doing it informally. She could have just claimed they had a one/ two night stand and the DNA would have "confirmed" it. He was also silly to think that two children would never find out he was their father and expect some sort of relationship with him. This is why it's done anonymously, usually.

I have always assumed that clinical trials into IVF required that male sperm was fresh & at body temperature in order for optimum results. If she handed him an empty pill container for him to ejaculate into & she then carried it home in order to self inject no way would it be fresh & at the correct body temperature. To get 2 hits immediately sounds very much like a fairy story. All very odd.

I think the significant differences there are 'IVF' (ie fertilising in a petri dish) and 'optimum results' (giving a couple with fertility issues the best chances of success)
