I haven't seen any blackbirds for a while. Last summer I found 3 nests in the tall hedge at the back of the garden but only one seem to have been in use. They nest there every year.

LOL! you love them to bits, but they do tend to own you, don't they
How do you keep tame blackbird away from cat?
Not easy to keep cats away. There is a huge black and white one down the road and a ginger one across the road I'm constantly chasing away from my garden but they do get to the nest sometimes. I found feathers last year and knew one had got to them, must have been very early in the morning. I do try though. I like birds, hate to see them torn to bits. A sparrow hawk was zooming in on a goldfinch and the poor little thing was flying so hard to get away but I knew it wouldn't. I just went indoors, I couldn't watch to the end.

The blackbird has been tapping on the window for 3 years now, the cat has been told from day 1 that birds are off limits. He will be 14 in May, and has never attempted to catch one yet, despite sitting quite close watching them.
Him and my old Siamese were once circling a fledgling, not having a clue what it was.
I think despite what folks say, you CAN train a cat.
Sorry ferlew, I'm not hijacking your thread. x
