Blue Tits Nesting

Two years ago we had a family of great tits nesting in our nest box in the garden .
When the chicks had hatched and left we decided to install a nest box camera hoping that they would return the following year.
I installed the camera late autumn of that year and was surprised to find that a blue tit decided to take up residence.
He stayed through the winter but didn't nest there,just used it as a bachelor pad I suspect,but he came back again this winter and is still there,I was wondering if anyone knows if this is normal and will he/she not actually nest and bring up young again this year

Its my guess that it was being used for a winter roost.
Hopefully they may return in the spring to nest and raise chicks.

Wrens also use nest boxes for roosting. In very cold winters over 20 have been found in the same box, huddling together for warmth.

It's very normal for blue tits and wrens to find a shetered nook to roost in during the winter months. Often, a surprisingly large number of them can be found crowded into such a place, keeping each other warm. Whether any of them will use the space later for a nest - it's up to them to decide!
