the song with the best lyrics in the world is ordinary world by duran duran, only person opinion mind. also if you like really evocative lyrics you might like shooting star by bad company, written about a former "free" band member who commited suicide. there are so many songs with good lyrics it really depends what you like.

Try anything by "I am Kloot". John Bramwell is a great wordsmith

Trouble is, a lot of the best lyricists' singing voices are rather rough on the ears (Tom Waits, Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, etc.). So find a collection of their songs by some fluffy kitten pop singers. Or read a book instead.

My angle? I think Echo and the Bunnymen have better-wrtiiten songs now than they did when they were "famous". Ian McCulloch is now a great lyricist.
