How Can I Tell Him?
6 Answers
I love this band, but for all the wrong reasons it seems to me. I initially saw Everything Everything as a breath of not so fresh air, re-injecting traces of the inventive music of the progressive and the Smiths era into the horribleness of today's sex-chart music.
My problem is that the lead vocalist with his horrible, self-piteous, hoarse falsetto voice is totally all over their latest album. The previous album drew me in but much as I love their music I really cannot stand the horrible voice of the lead vocalist.
The problem is that I really believe in Everything Everything and I want them to become more popular. But how can I tell them their musical genius is a singer with a voice best suited to instrumental music and will eternally consign his talented band to the backwaters of the UK music scene?

And i have to say that, imo, they appear to be doing quite well, unless you are one of those fans who measure success by chart positions. I was lucky enough to be of an era when my favourite bands very rarely troubled the charts as they never released singles. Bands such as Genesis, Yes, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, etc, etc. Just think how diverse the lead singers of those bands are; Peter Gabrial, Jon Anderson, Syd Barrett and Ozzie!
