Help I've Lost My Sound

I have just had my iPad Air for a month and decided to try out another ringtone. After deciding on one, I ticked it off and tapped on "store".
I must have done more than that because I now have no typing, camera or new email sound.

Can you help me out of my unwanted silence?

Sorry I have taken so long but I haven been going through my iPad books trying to find the name of the grey bit that comes up when you swipe upwards from the bottom up on the home page. Are you with me?
We'll on that grey bit is an icon of a bell with a line going through it and when I tapped on it I got my sound back!
If anybody can tell me more about that grey bit I would be very pleased.

Sounds plausible. I don't have expensive iApple stuff, so couldn't really advise.

aha, but I saved up and then got a really good buy in the sales £200 down from the original price in Sept.
