B:They had 2 cancel class. The rain has flooded the basement of Thompson Hall.

What does the underlined sentence mean? Why does B mention Thompson Hall in the sentence? Is it from the Bible?

Hello again,

I can't be sure without seeing the context around the piece of dialogue you have asked about, but I will suggest that the basement of Thompson Hall is where the chemistry class is held, and the flooding is the reason why it has been cancelled.

it's one of listening comprehension questions and there's no context around the dialogue~~~

perhaps B means that the rain is so big that he can't go to the hall, so the class should be cancelled?

just a guess, hah~~~
