Indian Restaurant
10 Answers
Hi, I'm going to an Indian restaurant on Friday night for the first time and I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on what to eat. I like spicy food (but not too spicy) and I think I would prefer a lamb dish. Any recommendations or dishes I should avoid?

Avoid anything hot as its probably just spiced up to cater for the after pub crowd - someone once told me that a Phal was just an in joke within the curry house trade to purposefully set the mouths of lager louts on fire who came in and asked for the hottest thing youve got!
Generally the curries come out in individual platters so if youre going with good friends youll have the opportunity to have a bit of everything!
Just go for a medium anything yourself and enjoy - I love curry!! Mmmmmmm!

A lamb dhansak is my fave.....sweet, slightly sour and med hot cooked in a lovely creamy sauce with lentils.
As mentioned, it really is a matter of taste. I love sweet curries with lots of fruit, coconut and creasm in mine....i know other who hate it and prefer a drier biryani. Of the good choices around are sag aloo (spinach), dopiaza (onions) Pathia, Ceylon, Passanda or even the very mild Korma.
You'll love it and let us know what you have !
