Hello again following on from yesterday, does anyone have any experience of having a child that habitually wakes up to come in parents bed and if so, did they eventually grow out of it on their own accord? Tia.

My daughter used to do this and, without wanting to sound horrible, it was awful.
Our bed isn't huge and I had night after night of no sleep where she would take up my side of the bed.

Personally, I'd nip in the bud now.
I would get up when she came in, and take her back to her own bed. She didn't like it, and it went on for about a week, but eventually she stopped doing it.

I went back to sleeping in my mother's bed (separated) from about 12 to 14 after a ginormous spider walked across my pillow when I was in mine. It seriously traumatised me.

It seems more that she can't settle herself back to sleep on her own I suppose that's the problem we need to tackle.
How old is she?
My son did this but I ended up being quite firm with him. Took him back to his own bed and stayed a bit til he settled down again. Needs nipped in the bud methink, though your child might just grow out of it naturally.

She's just turned 5 so she takes up quite a bit of room!. Was just looking on supernanny which suggests a small surprise in a box from the sleep fairy if she stays in bed. Hmm might give that a go x

Also she doesn't get out of bed she just keeps calling every 10 mins to say she can't sleep and it goes on for over an hour by which point i have to bring her in or no sleep for any of us
I would try and nip it in the bud now, I don't think she will grow out of it. How was she at settling herself when she was a baby? My daughter is almost 18 months now and she's pretty good at settling herself as she has a comfort toy which she takes to bed with her. If she wakes up, she rolls over and gets the toy, and goes back to sleep. Could you try this?

Similar to Prudie I slept in my mums bed for two years from the ages of 7-9 after my dad died. When my mum put an end to it I made a right fuss saying she didn't love me anymore, which I knew wasn't true, and it was quite a struggle. Don't let it get to that stage.
what about the rapid return stuff?
I think supernanny would say grit your teeth, prepare for a few nights on the trot with poor sleep and just let her call out and not answer. I know it seems mean.
