why not? My dogs eat and enjoy veg.
My cats had Purina One beef with carrots in jelly for dinner. It looked disgusting but seemed to bee appreciated.

I know that it is wrong/unwise to have a vegetarian cat. Apart from any scientific reason they would fart constantly and loudly.
///Why do dog food makers add in veg. ///

Cheap bulk.
Both my dogs love fruit and veg and will actively seek it out, hence my veg plot is fenced off. The reason the makers add it though is probably as bulk as Canary says.
I had a cat that would go moggy for raw green beans and another that would nibble the avocados when they ripened.
My cat Mowgli loved grapes and baked beans.
I believe that McFluffy's boss lady Murphy likes Marmite. I let my cat sniff my marmite on toast and he backed off really quickly. Maybe Murphy is mad.
I think that pet food manufacturers add ingredients that will appeal to the pet owners more than the pet, it helps things sell.

Veg isn't going to do your pet any harm but it probably wont do your cat or dog much good either.
I'm glad they do, my dog loves it.
