Tyres wearing
If I wanted to have my tyres rotated to prevent too much wear and tear, would any garage do this? and does anyone know how much it would cost?

Do it yourself for nothing! Incedentally Im sure you realise it wont actually prevent wear and tear as you say, but will rather cause the tyres to wear evenly all round. Make sure they are at the correct pressures too, incorrect pressures will speed up tyre wear a lot.
Unless you want to increase wear only swap the front wheels with the rears on the SAME side of the car. In the days of cross ply tyres you idea was sound, but once radials are fitted and have been in use for some time you will find that by reversing their direction of rotation will actually excellerate wear.

Front tyres usually wear on the edges, nearside worse. To continue to wear the tyre evenly change the wheels in a cross pattern so that the nearside front is on the offside back etc. If you do not change them the front tyres will become illegal on the edges well before the middle of the tread and you will only achieve half the mileage possible.
