i accidently placed a blue plastic bag on our ceramic hob whilst still hot and as to be expected have now got a plastic coating on the hob. Normal cleaner has no effect and even using a wooden spatula does not help. Has anyone please got any remedy for removal of the plastic.

Try Astonish household cleaner paste, put on the paste with a damp cloth and work in in a circular motion. This cleaner is worth a try and is recommended for ceramic hobs and even chrome on an Aga so is very safe to use.

Hi BJS - also try Hob Brite from Tesco, Sainsbury, Wilkinsons etc. Its only 1.60 ish and my hob is over 2 years old and still shines like a new pin. Put it on, rub off with DRY paper towel then keep buffing with clean dry paper towel. Works simply divinely. DO not put it on when the hob is still hot tho or you'lll still be rubbing it off 4 hours later (i found out the hard way!)

i would think you should just turn the hob on and let it burn away, won't take long
When we had our Neff hob, we were given a scraper. It was like a Stanley blade in a handle, similar to a window paint scraper. It doesn't scratch the glass and removes anything. The tool has SCHOTT CERA Quick, on it. I think its the maker of the ceramic.
You could do this with a stanley blade held at a shallow angle to the surface and just slowly and carefully push it under the plastic and lift it bit by bit,
Put the blade flat down on the surface with the sharp part towards the plastic, now lift the back of the blade about 5mm from the surface and push it under the plastic.
