When I was growing up I thought our neighbour was posh because they drank coffee, ate brown bread and shopped at M&S!

What is, or was, your definition?

Does she, Yilly, well that answers that then, my mom was posh.

Blimey masma, he must have been posh to have had a radiogram, if he'd have been common it would have been a Dansette record player.
Growing up in the 1970/80s, to me being posh was ................calling your evening meal "supper", kids that had normal thermos flasks/sandwich boxes for lunch rather than the tacky cartoon boxes with matching tiny flask - and people who ate John West Best Salmon (tinned) EVERY Sunday!

When I was a child 80 years ago I thought the people next door were rich because on Sunday they had pineapple chunks from a tin and angel cake bought in a shop, while we had to make do with cakes my mother made. Little did I know that ours were much better than theirs. At least we knew what went into them!
