I am hoping this question is in the right box so to speak my enquiry is can someone please tell me out of two household hoovers namely the Dyson and that Hoover the small dumpy ' Henry ' which of the two is the best or most powerful , please help me I have a bet on this with my two daughters who think that their mother that's me is past knowing these kind of things . Help thank you.
Well, we have two Dysons and my father has one....20 years service between them and not one single problem, breakdown, repair , call-out. They just keep going and still perform like new without the expense of "consumables".
Both have 1200 watt motors, so from a power usage point of view they are equal. However, from a suction point of view, the bagless Dyson should maintain it's suction better than the Henry, which has either a bag or a filter.
I have no experience of expensive Dysons but my Henry works ok even years after purchase. But for sure I'd hope new innovation should result in a better design and so should be best. Not that I'm rushing to replace mine.
My Henry is brilliant, good suction and so easy to use.
Wouldnt replace it with anything else if it did ever pack up working.
We bought it at least 10 yrs ago, maybe a lot longer.
No doubt that Dyson vacs are far superior to Numatics (Henry and all those other silly names they have).
Which? have recommended several different Dyson models....and not one Numatic.
That's not based on personal opinion....but on performance testing.
I have a Henry which works perfectly well and has done for years,
I've had Dysons in the past which worked well at first but became noisy and had a drop in performance over time.
The mere fact that Dysons can be up to four times the price of a Henry would also make me vote for the wee smiley faced one.
Every time I go to the council recycling centre, there is at least one Dyson sitting there.
Never seen a numatic.
Dysons are over rated, over priced(according to people I know who have had them).
My Henry is brilliant and has lasted forever. They are often used as industrial hoovers, too. I dislike my mum's dyson. It's bulky and blows out as well as sucking.
In my experience Dysons (upright) are bulky, heavy, the suction from the pipe is not great and they break very easily. I replaced the Dyson with a Hetty and I much prefer it. The Hetty still picks up okay even when the bag is full to the brim :-)
I sold my Dyson even though there was nothing wrong with it because it's just useless at picking up stuff like bits of thread off carpet, I used to shout at it. I've now got a Miele and cannot imagine replacing it with anything else. Our cleaners at work use Henrys and seem very happy with them.
A friend of mine repairs and sells vacuums etc. When the Dyson first came out, he was offered some kind of deal to be the local area dealer (something along them lines anyway). He asked to inspect a Dyson so he knew what he was letting himself in for and he refused the deal saying (in his own words), "they were rubbish".
Another friend of mine is an industrial/commercial contract cleaner and he swears by Henrys. He uses them all the time - they pick everything up .... and they just keep on going .... and going.
My friend who repairs vacuums constantly has Dysons in for repair - hardly ever a Henry.
I suppose Dysons are okay when they are new, but if you're after something reliable that will keep on going - Henry wins hands down.
