Basa Fish ?

I saw some breaded fillets of this fish in the supermarket yesterday and decided to give it a try, for today's lunch.
I've since discovered by googling that its a type of catfish.
Any oppinions on this fish ?

I buy frozen basa fillets from Sainsburys which I poach and feed my dog he loves them.

I'm like beeseejay, I always buy my fish fresh with the skin on so I can see what type it is.If we buy in bulk for the freezer we have a trip up to Brid and get it from the Taste of the Sea.In fact until a couple of years ago when I became too unsteady on my feet I always caught my own.

I read an article on these basa, it said they are reared in the sewage farms in vietnam. I never touched them again.

Fish isn`t cheap. It costs a lot of money to send a trawler out into the North Sea with the attendant insurances, H&S risks, weather disruptions and the rest. You get what you pay for. If you don`t want to pay high prices, then don`t expect wild salmon, cod and other hard to come by fish. I`m not too bothered about basa - I must have eaten that and a lot worse in the Far East. Next time you go to the curry house, consider where they probably got their raw jumbo prawns from (a muddy place in Vietnam).

Fresh halibut is my favorite.
Don't think I've tried turbot but I'd like to give it a try.
