is there any good methods to prevent cats coming into a garden, ours is a communal area as we have a huge conifer on the other side of the fence with lots of nests?

I think there are certain electronic noise emitters.

Bow Wow!

Citrus juice. Cat's hate it. I know this one. A friend of mine had a problem with her cat clawing furniture. She was told to put a couple of small squirts of lemon juice, (that stuff you used to get in the plastic lemon?) she did and the cat couldn't go near it.

Can't see that it wouldn't work on the cat's entry points to your garden. Or on the tree.

Let me know how you get on.

My Gran would tell me to put black pepper down. Cats sniff before they eat. If they start sniffing black pepper, well.

try putting holly or something prickly on top of the fence! Also useful for deterring burglars.

An air rifle
did hear once that garlic would do the trick !
Apparently orange peel helps!
