It was magnificent. David Trelfall's portrayal of Cooper was extraordinary. And the storyline was very clever. Baftas all round I think.

If it was like watching the man himself, they can't have taken the trailer scenes from the program, they were dreadful.
I thought he looked more of a caricature rather than an actor. His make up was over powering. Also, would such an odd looking man attract the attention of Mary, who was far too pretty.
Question Author
he obviously did, they were together for 17 years.

methyl, thank you, i thought it was excellent, admittedly this has some artistic licence, and has been refuted by his daughter Vicky, specially about the violence, but a very good piece overall
he was a favourite of mine and the o/h,
when he was ill, i bought some cds of this shows, had us falling about with laughter
emmie, Tommy Cooper is one of the funniest men I have ever seen, only have to see him and I want to laugh.
Question Author
did you watch the programme, i am the same,
one of the funniest, silliest gags,
man goes to the doctors, doctor says stick out your tongue and say ah. why says the man, doctor says, because my dog just died,
not to say that dogs death is funny, but hearing him telling that old joke had us in stitches.
No I haven't watched it, emmie, to tell the truth I didn't know about it until I saw your thread. No one could tell those silly jokes like him.
Watched it in a quiet house this afternoon, Threlfall was incredible as Tommy Cooper and he would have been an immensly difficult man to play. Mind you David Threlfall is one of the best actors there is at the minute
One of my favorite sketches.

Did not watch it. Never watched Tommy Cooper, not funny.
Aw, c'mon Daisy, I thought he was hilarious.
Sorry, sense of humour gene lacking.
I though the acting was amazing. thoroughly enjoyed.
Question Author
i think it was one of the best things on recent years.
having watched him play the character smike in Nicholas Nickelby on stage years ago, its must have been horrendous, as smike is crippled, a very tall David Threlfall, who was on stage much of the time must have been in agony from distorting his body - that has always stuck in my mind.
