Black C: it seems unusual for the judge to order that the sentences be served consecutively, concurrent seems much more normal practice (not that i have intimate knowledge).

The law says you ahve to sentence according to principles applying at the time of the offence - and if concurrent sentences werent the norm,
then there are grounds for a reduction
I am not sure if I want judges thinking or doing: I know I should do X ( int his case give a shorter sentence ) so I know ! I will get around doing X by er doing Y...
I am not sure if he did some of it you know
I am reminded about the Irish Bombers.... the longer that this case goes on the more I am convinced of your guilt et c etc
