It depends on how much, how long for and the amount of risk you are prepared to take.

As Ethel said it's all about the level of risk you are willing to take. If it was east to do it we would all be doing it.

The safe option is the bank but that has a low amount of interest. Then there are things link bonds bit higher interest still safe but don't allow easy access. Then there are things like Shares which can turn a decent profit in a short time but could equally drop down the same time.

An ISA, or Barclays 10% regular saver account, or buy a house and rent it out to pay the mortgage then when you sell it you'll be loaded!
