I can't think of anything less comfortable than having your feet done, or having a hair cut at home.
I was looking through some local ads and noticing how many treatments are on offer from mobile beauticians, it made me wonder if anyone else feels the same anxiety about having someone come to the house?
I know its an effective business model to be a mobile beautician but personally the mere thought of it makes me shudder!
Not something I would do, but perhaps it's less intimidating for some people to have something done at home rather than go to a spa or shop where they don't know their way around, or all the people.
Personally, the thought of any kind of beauty treatment, anywhere, makes me shudder. I can just about manage a haircut, but that's it.
My sisters and I used to sometimes book a beautician for a day at home because there were lots of us and we turned it into more of a party day and it's easier for some disabled or elderly people or even just people who don't like going out. I'd rather go to a salon though for anything meaningful.
I love having my hair done at home. I've had the same girl for a few years now, we know each other well so the chat isn't all mundane repeated stuff, and I don't have to go out in all weathers (potentially ruining an expensive do). It's far better than going to salon where you're ushered round from one seat/one person to another and then expectected to leave a big tip!
Maybe like CloverJo, I just shudder at the thought of beauty treatments full stop!
I'm not a very sociable person and have very few visitors. I'd feel really self conscious and prefer the anonymity and professionalism of a salon or health centre. No need to add that I'm not beautiful, preferring the dentist to the beauty salon and only undergo anything out of necessity.
I appreciate its more affordable to have someone visit and especially useful if you can't get out, but it is only reading these ads this morning when I realise how uncomfortable it would make me feel to have someone call round with their box of tricks!
Just had a cut a blow dry at home. Half the price of going to a salon and my hairdresser does an excellent job. A friend ran a chiropodist business until she retired; always had my feet done at home and really miss it now.
Rarely have any beauty treatments done, but the though of a head to toe pamper them remaining warm and cosy and relaxed indoors as the beautician left is far more attractive than getting dressed and going out into the rain and getting a bus.
