Has anyone heard of this happening? Friend was waiting to be discharged from hospital he says the staff said he could go home and they would post his discharge papers to him at home.

It was a busy ward though (Acute Medical) and they had someone outside my room waiting for me to vacate it - literally right after they said I could go home so then I was sitting outside in the corridor waiting for someone to come and sort any meds etc...
Was in a bit of a flap trying to get all my stuff together and felt really bad as people were waiting in the corridor for me to get out.
I don't think my GP surgery ever got them either as they only had the ones from A&E I think which noted I'd gone home quickly to make sure my cat was ok and had food and was being looked after etc... before coming back to be admitted. I luckily live very near the hospital. All my GP seemed to have got was up to me leaving A&E, nothing after me coming back and I was in there a few days!

I'm not sure what's worse, a busy ward who have no-one available for admin and send you home with no papers; or the one that makes you wait for them come what may.
I sat for 6 hours waiting for mine. The change of shift in the middle didn't help but by 10pm they finally had nothing better to do than to get me home.
