I am in majorca on hols my phone will not link up to the wi fi, I have got a code and password from reception, but wont work, what am I doing wrong, cant even get to the bit where you put password in, help please.

have you got to the bit where you put the code in? if you are getting that far and it won't let you enter the password then the code is probably wrong

this happens to me down the watering hole, if i don't get the name spot on, i can't enter the password

Have you still got it in Airplane Mode from the flight?

Have you turned wifi on (but made sure that roaming is off)?

Not in aeroplane mode , can scan and address for hotel comes up says I have connection, but bit does not come up whete I put code in, and still not on .

have you "clicked" on the hotel wifi connection?

or could you try accessing the internet, when i connect at work, it takes me straight to a log on web page?

I would return to reception and check that the details they have given to you are correct. If you have a legitimate provider and a correct log in then it should work. Are you trying to do it out of range of the hotel? Often these free WiFi connections are very limited. It might only work in certain areas of the hotel, or at certain times. Check with them.
