I've joined in a few sing-a-longs in the past (particularly on the boat train that used to run between Liverpool and Harwich once per day) but not for many years.
Actually you've reminded me just how much I enjoyed some journeys on that train. I was travelling on it just before Christmas from Sheffield to Ipswich, and got into conversation with a delightful elderly lady sitting opposite me. However she appeared very 'upright' in her manner so wasn't too sure that she'd appreciate me drinking booze. As I reached for a can, I said "I hope you don't mind . . .". She just smiled and said "I've got a better idea . . . " and pulled a full bottle of scotch from her bag, together with two glasses ;-)

I was on the first train of the subway, temporarily stopped. Empty train, except for a group of subway singers practicing for the day.
The subway conductor then opens the door and says, "That was pretty good guys, but what about a little Sam Cooke?" The conductor starts singing, as the subway group comes up to the front of the train to join him.
