Would the fact that thousands of expats throughout the world now have to send their applications to UK be a factor? How many are stuck without travel documents since they are required to declare and send all uncancelled passports - even with dual nationality the second passport has to be sent.
They can't just pop down to the post office or passport office.
Great idea, closing the issuing offices at embassies and consulates, not.
people in the UK also can't just pop down to their post office to get a passport. And yes, thye can get an appt at the passport office, but so can expats
For years (every ten) I've only had to deal with the embassy, so maybe I'm out of touch :-)

But that would mean travelling to the passport office in the UK, wouldn't it?

I'm wondering if it's worth the hassle.

but for me, getting to a passport office from the UK would probably also mean me flying to it
Got a text sent at 21:40 tonight acknowledging receipt of our passport application checked at Post Office on Friday!
