What's the current going rate for a first tooth from the tooth fairy?

I gave my son a pound! My friend gave her daughter a fiver!! I guess it depends on whether the tooth fairy is feeling generous or not!!

I remember when it was traditionally a 'silver' sixpence (tanner), then a silver shilling (bob), then a silver florin (two bob), then a silver half a crown (2/6).

Nowadays we slip a dull looking �1 coin under the pillow......it's lovely to hear all the excitement in the morning after the tooth fairy has been though - ah!

I used to get �1 for my front/smaller teeth (incisors and canines) and then �2 for my big teeth at the back (molars)!

I remember getting 5p then it went up to 10p though that was eons ago.

The tooth fairy used to leave 50p or a pound for my kids :)

They also leave a small thank-you letter and some fairy-dust.

There's a kid at our school who buys teeth from children and sells them on to other children who can't wait for their own teeth to fall out! Keeps the tooth fairy very busy indeed. Now there's a Richard Branson in the making!

Doesnt really matter because if your kid has mates like my daughters then the magic will be lost as my littluns friends told her there was no such thing as all those mythical characters aged 6 so it was all lost but hey I think I was more disappointed than her.
