Took A Walk

took a walk down a country lane near here yesterday and saw at least three adders slithering over the paths (not grass snakes) i know there out when its hot but also in the area where they were i saw within a distance of 30/40 feet 7 dead shrews on the path ,whole not half eaten could the adders have done this if so when haven't they swallowed them ?

I don't think the adders are anything to do with the shrews.
Shrews are known to fight among themselves, often to the death, so thats what I think is happening here.
