I've just noticed Sir Elton's name being taken (affectionately) in vain on another thread.

It reminded me that (despite not being quite my 'usual cup of tea') he played two of the most memorable sets I've ever seen - at Birmingham Town Hall in about 1973/4 and then at Wembley Stadium in 1976 - I'd gone to see The Eagles ... honest.

The man is a consummate showman and has written more good songs than you could shake the proverbial stick at.

Post your favourites here - I'll start with Crocodile Rock
