as mentioned before, I've been getting charged by 2 suppliers for my gas. I warned them, beginning of April, I was sick of dealing with them/it and if they didn't sort it out by 1st of May I'd contact the ombudsman. They didn't so I did, lol.
Just now (bank holiday and all) one of them contacted me and, to précis, admitted they'd made a mistake, would reimburse the money they've charged me and make a 'goodwill' payment of £30.00. Do you think I should accept this?

I have just had a similar struggle with 2 energy companies, and in the end I wrote to my MP. He wrote to the chairman of one of the energy companies. Within a couple of days I had a charmingly apologetic woman on the phone agreeing to all my demands and offering £50 compensation.

Update for anyone who's interested.
On the 7th I sent a long e-mail to the Ombudsman saying Scottish Power have admitted being at fault and offered £30 as a goodwill gesture.
However, I said, I wasn't bothered about the money but would like to see the companies sanctioned so they don't treat another customer in a similar fashion.
Just had a very short e-mail from the Ombudsman saying, literally, 'we see that have(sic) reached a satisfactory resolution to your complaint.
We have closed the case.'

just got the cheque if anyone is interested. About a month ago a woman from Scottish Power said she was going to add it up and send it to me. I said don't forget the £30 goodwill payment. "I wont insult you by sending you that" she said "I'll get you some proper compensation"
3 days ago the goodwill cheque came. £30. ;D

Scottish Power sent me my money a few weeks ago(had it, spent it) I had a call from them yesterday and the bloke said he was going to add up what I've paid and get it set off to me straight away. lol, before I could bite my tongue I heard myself telling him I'd already had it.
