We used yo get beer here in Zim back in the day. That was when I first gave blood. A friend asked me if I wanted to go for a drink. We were mid month and didn't have money so I said I couldn't afford to go but he said he knew where we could get a free beer so off we went and ended up the blood bank. 40 years on we now only get tea and biscuits.

I originally gave to the Army blood bank and then moved to the National Blood bank who didn't recognise contributions made elsewhere so I have no idea what my total is.

In recent years due to where I have travelled and being a very poor bleeder I've had to abandon giving.

It is very worthwhile though and if you can, you should IMHO.
